I really like this place! It's a little pricey but the portion sizes are very large. I used to go to Judy's on Chestnut Street (who didn't go there?!?!) but when it closed, I started to come here more often. It's small, quaint, convenient, and the food/service is very good. I've only had breakfast here so my review is pretty much on the omelette only:-)

Had a very less than average breakfast experience at Caffe Union last weekend.
Two things to know:
-Awful service
-Wayyy too overpriced
One of the servers was incredibly rude and rolled her eyes every time she came to our table.
The food was decent, average breakfast food, but not worth $16+ for omelettes.
There are much better spots in SF. -

When you take your seat at the freshly-prepared table, wipe a spot with the white cloth napkin provided. You'll find a greasy brown smear and your first reason to leave.
You're probably seeing a common theme amongst the 2-stars: good food, horrible service. That happens to be our experience as well. We checked Yelp reviews when we were 35 minutes into waiting for our order. The long-ish wait wasn't a big issue in and of itself - it was the fact that something was burning in the kitchen, filling the place with smoke and irritating our eyes. I can still smell the smoke in my clothes as I write this having left an hour ago. -

CLEAN YOUR BATHROOMS
I had very good Huevos Rancheros here during the week, so came back and ended up with not-good scrambled eggs (hard, carved out from a chunk of pre-cooked eggs) today (potatoes were good, bacon was good, sourdough toast was meh). $3.80 for a can of Diet Coke (no refills). I barely touched the eggs but the server only said "would you like a box?" Um, no. Nice enough staff. What drove down my rating is the state of the bathrooms...GAG. Both of them. I looked at one and went "nope" (covered in piss and worse) and opened the other door--and it was marginally better but ugh, still had to wipe it down (and the poor quality seat nearly dislodged). Door knob from bathroom was filthy. I washed my hands twice.
Oh and you're out of paper towels. -

Overpriced breakfast place in the marina. 17 bucks for a breakfast burrito!?!?! Dude. The place has a cool traditional breakfast vibe, just totally average place, not special enough to be worthy of charging 17 bucks for a breakfast burrito. The service sucked too, not friendly at all!
